What's Wrong With Mori?
Quote from Lonnie on July 3, 2025, 11:05 PMAnother poor performance today from Mori. Anthony said it was the best he's been all year. He hung like a chandelier. If that's his best, I don't see a bright future ahead. He was the most expensive horse we have ever bought... and now the biggest disappointment. So far 🙏🙏

Quote from Bgtolex25 on July 4, 2025, 8:37 AMYour post is imploring others to go a little deeper than our usual banter, so I will try it cautiously. I haven’t listened to all the videos with intent lately so excuse my ignorance. But what have you heard about his lackluster year to date? Last year he had some “steering” issues on his way to all that success down in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Were those issues related to soundness or immaturity? Does he ship ok? He rarely shipped last year. Is he still on the small side and the bigger kids have matured past him? He was driven by one of the best last year and maybe he prefers the quiet hands of Scotty Z.
The point is that there are dozens of possible reasons and equine athletes don’t reason quite like human athletes in that they don’t realize that their performance dictates their future. The trainers, caretakers and drivers likely have your answers, so the best we can do is to hang on every word that we hear and visit the barn on a regular basis.
I think that a few of us have said it before…we would like to hear from some of the other key staff once in awhile. Those that are in position to visit the barn on a regular basis can probably give a much better perspective. As always, I am rooting for success for all of you.

Quote from Purple Aura on July 4, 2025, 10:57 AMThey went real slow with Mori last year. Scotty drove him like James. Cautious. Paid off in the end. I think he likes the clay of Red Mile. Hopefully that's the answer because he's pretty average so far. Good luck going forward.

Quote from SC Upstate on July 4, 2025, 9:51 PMMy thoughts and $2 won't get you a cup of coffee at DD's but here goes.
I tend to glaze over the videos, pause, rewind and listen for a few words on my horses. Just don't have the time most days, but I think AMac made an expectations video where he said Mori might just be a 54 trotter. I stand corrected if I'm dreaming that.
I was at Lexington the day he won in 51.4. Perfect day, fast track, red clay, perfect trip, Scottie ... maybe, probably will be the mile of his life.
I had the opportunity to spend a couple hours in the barn at Northfield this morning. AMac wasn't there, by no means read into that. Point is my wife and I spent quality time with the caretakers and trainers. Priceless info. And that's not to say any of it was different than what I've heard in videos. We just had the chance to ask questions, get a little more detailed information. Wife and I aren't horseman, it was great to be able to ask the "dumb" questions.
Back to the expectations .... not sure which carries more weight - 1) waiting, watching and wondering if the yearlings will develop. Or 2) having a good or great two year that you have huge expectations for as a three year old.
We've watched close to fifty races, LIVE, in the past three days. Another 13 tomorrow, three tracks, a thousand miles driven with many more to come. More questions then answers, more confusion then clarity, and that's about the sport not TheStable. Ya Gotta Luv It!
Good Luck to all involved tomorrow! Super Mind was a super freak today!
