Where is a safe and cheap place to get a hotel near the Meadowlands? By near I mean a reasonable driving distance, perhaps one hour.

The tri-state area is just so expensive. 

You might want to check priceline.com since you aren't requiring a specific location.  

Also with today's AI you could try a natural language search. 

For example, ask Google to show you hotels under $XX in New Jersey that are within 60 miles of Rutherford, NJ for a stay on 11/1/2024 or whatever the days are. 

I hope that search the yields a useful result.

To hone in on what you're looking for, this hotel is about half a mile from The Meadowlands, and on the night of the Breeders Crown, October 25, 2024 the room is $138/night (with taxes and fees though it baloons to $175).

Have you tried any of the bnb platforms ie AIRBNB, VRBO..?

I never particularly liked hotels, and motels, yuk even worst, what comes to mind is body fluids, I think of them as  - crime scenes - lol!

Thanks for info. I figured east coast prices would be crazy.  Not going to be the $50 a night I am getting in Lexington next week, haha.

I have looked at airbnb yet, I have found that for short stays prices are pretty high, cleaning fees, etc. Plus people fudge where property is. Sometimes in very sketchy areas.
