The last big race of the day was won by Golden Boy and Antonio di Nardo in 1:08.8 or 1:50.3.

I think we can look back on a historic Elitloppet weekend. It was a great weekend to watch.
I do not know the attendance numbers yet, nor the betting turnover. But it was packed in the grandstands again like every year!

@niekh

thank you so much for your commentary and educating us Americans on what looks like the best event for the sport.  Sadly, I was on the highway all day and just catching up on the events.  Allegiant was pure poetry in motion.

Never thought about being an expatriate before 2016, but I would think hard about it now.  Love what I see about this event, and it goes to the top of my bucket list.

If you ever want to visit races in Europe, and you want to experience something like the Little Brown Jug, North America Cup and Hambletonian? Then there are two race weekends that should top the list, the Elitloppet and the Prix d'Amerique.

The attendance numbers for the Elitloppet weekend are published. A drop of 15% versus last year to have a total of 14,352 in attendance on Sunday. For Friday to Sunday, the number of visitors became 30,120 people. A decrease of 9%.

While still a big crowd with a lot of energy it is half the crowd of when I first went to a Elitloppet myself.

That attendance number is hard to believe, judging from the broadcast.  It seemed that there were many more people there than that.
