Keeneland

PreviousPage 3 of 3

My wife, son and I went to Keeneland yesterday.  I haven’t seen official attendance numbers, but I was thinking around 15,000 would be a good over/under betting line.  No stake races and a midweek card, so I was impressed with the attendance.

My photo is of a 2 year old in Race 1 for 2 year old Maidens.  It was actually the first start for the entire field and at just 4 1/2 furlongs.  And here I am thinking that we start our standardbred babies early in June/July.

Don't people work in Kentucky?  LOL

Keeneland offers something for every price point, plus it is Spring Break week.  Many families in attendance and apparently other group gatherings.  Keeneland’s staff leans heavy into the cultural aspect too.  The harness racing community should be using it as a case study.

Possible change in plans on our Keeneland visit. If both Zina and " Day gus " are in at Miami this Friday then we will probably go to Keeneland next weekend seeing as how were almost there with our visit to Miami.

Keep me posted.  I can make it on Saturday, not Sunday.  Would love to catch up with you and Wendy.

Awful draw for thestable at Miami for Friday. An 8, two 9's and an AE.  Daygus not racing. Cheri's girl, Zina and Jolene Hall. With Woodmere Betcha the AE.

If ever the outside draw might not matter, then it might be in these races.  Maidens and NW 2 trotters.  First time starters for the season for most.  No distractions or the outside post on these 5/8 mile tracks.  Surely if they get away trotting, then there should be some openings along the pylons going into the first turn.  Rumor has it that AmyMac will be fitting AMac with a shock collar to control his use of the whip.  ( Lonnie, I couldn’t resist)

Al called it. Bad post. No DayGus and the only racetrack in Ohio I really don't want to travel to alone. Miami is awful. One room, weather looks okay would probably hang outside I just find Miami depressing. Going to golf with some friends here and then watch Zina. See you later in the spring/summer Norm.

You got it Ed.  Whenever you are down this way, you have an open invite!

Had a great time. Weather was perfect. Kind of pissed me off they have the balls to charge 5.00 for a bottle of water. But you park for free. Everyone there is so nice. Employees, the crowd, you watch world class jockeys on there way back after a race maybe frustrated with their finish and people in the crowd ask them to take a picture. Luis Saez is a classy guy. Looking forward to Red Mile in the fall.
