Lou Armstrong Watch Thread

PreviousPage 5 of 6Next

Never gets old seeing multiple people in the winners circle. Ā AMac and Lou needed to convert to help people get over the Dq in the Next Gen and Ā 4th in the OSS leg. Ā He will have work to do to make the final of the OSS, even though he is a top 5 colt in the state.

why didn't he race tonight?

Thanks to the AI feature on the videos, I just read that Lou has some minor physical issues that they haven’t identified the nature of the problem. Ā But apparently AMac was excited about the rest of season. Ā This was from the weekend updates.

why didn't he race tonight?

Ā  Ā Here's my very biased theory. When he parked Wrenn in the Next Gen he exhausted Loooooooooooou and he wasn't ready to race seven days later in the first OSS series. The first leg of the BSS was a few days later he raced there and won. He raced in leg 2 of the OSS didn't win. But got OSS points. He did win the Scioto State Fair not part of OSS points.Ā  So now the plan is to race in the BSS final and OSS consolation. Decent plan but left lots of money on the table. Parking Wrenn and being DQed in Next Gen was costly. Exhausting Looooooooou and not being able to race a week later very costly. Now you're racing for 20k instead of 50k. All he had to do was let Wrenn go. They open up on the field. He likely gets first or second in the Next Gen and races in all the 50k OSS races and makes the 400k final. A decision he says he still wouldn't change. I love Loooooooooooooooou but glad I sold my shares. This is my most mismanaged horse ever at The Stable. Yeah, it still pisses me off. Am I wrong, missing something?Ā

Ed, you may be right with the BSS and OSS consolation strategy.Ā  It has been invoked previously.

As for the rest, I really need to buy you that bourbon.Ā  Hope to see you in Delaware if not sooner.

Anthony did a masterful job rating Lou Armstrong this race at the Champaign County Fair in Urbana, OH.Ā  He drew off in the stretch. Came home 27.2

Yes he did. Ā When you are the 1/9 or more favorite and with tactical gate speed, the job is much easier. Ā Chris Page had a Creatine colt invading from the KY Proud Series win his ā€œtrainingā€ mile in 1:57.1 earlier in the card. Ā But this trotting scene in Ohio is no joke. Ā An Uncle Peter, Action Uncle, In Range, Ready For Moni, and Cuatro de Julio made it 6 different sires and 5 different trainers to win the 6 divisions with some strong performances underneath…

Loooooooooooou ran second for 100k tonight. On Horseplop they are saying before the race that A Mac and Purple Jesus ran into one another scoring down and Purple Jesus didn't drive in the race. Poor Loooooooou, going to Scioto must give him the shakes now. Speaking of Scioto I will be there Monday when Perfect Instead makes her 2026 debut. 2yo maiden. Hope she's back there in about six weeks. I also hope Purple Jesus is okay.Ā
