Perfect Thought

PreviousPage 2 of 7Next

With everything else going on in The Stable lately it seems like she's lost some relevancy but Perfect Thought is in tomorrow night (11:35 pm) at The Meadowlands in the $180,000 NJSS Platinum Div Finals. That is the post time is listed by the USTA which is usually in local time so it seems pretty odd because they show two more races going off that. the last one at 12:25 am. Talk about drag time.

When Perfect Thought loses relevancy that means The Stable has gotten to big for it's bloomers. Wish you well Mark.

OMG!

I'm not confident with her going to Mohawk, she was terrible in both of her big money races there last year.

I think most of us are always rooting for Perfect Thought. Even without owning a share. Hope the highs of this month keep going!

Edit: I hope they can get her tie up down enough and get her ready to race well her next start. But it will be a challenge.

@pcmark15 Yes, I concur with @niekh.  I root hard for her.

The “tie ups” comment concerns me.  I don’t listen to the videos anymore and don’t know the particulars , as my concern is the training foundation put into those coming out of Ohio.  I really wanted this filly in Megan’s hands for her train down period.  Those are some big miles coming off the shelf.

I apologize if anyone here thought my comment about relevancy was directed to this board, it certainly was not. Everyone here has been great about supporting one another and I'm still impressed to this day with how everyone took to Miss Fancy Nancy and supported her.

@bgtolex25, I'm concerned about the "tie ups"  as well and I'm not sold on the idea of bringing her back to Northfield before going to Mohawk if she's going to be sent back to Megan again later. I agree about the train down period at the time I was hoping she'd be sent east as soon as Megan got back from Florida.

Right now I'm also wondering how the transition is going to be made for the 2 year olds going to NJ. I hope they get to see the big track a couple of times before they have to race on it.

I agree with the worries on the 2yo's. For the 2yo's I think the primary issue with most of them not coming back as good as a 3yo lies in the way they are prepared for the 2yo season. They peak early in their 2yo season most of the time. I think Anthony is changing his approach to the 2yo's this year.

What I caught was that earlier seasons they hadn't had as many fast miles into them as others. Sure they'd make that jump from 2:05 to 1:56 in their first starts but it seem to kinda break them up. In my opinion a horse needing to race in 1:55 should have had some training and qualifying miles close to that speed for a while. You need to get used to speed like that.

This year it seems like there is more consistent fast work done. Its mid to late May and most have been doing 2:05 - 2:10 speed for a while. If we see them consistently drop to below 2:00 soon I think it should make for a better race horse foundation in the long run.

I like how James has picked up the training in Ontario, I like how some are being send to the Meadowlands. Northfield is a small track, I think its important to stretch them out a little too.

I checked the Fair schedule on the USTA site, and today, three fairs have races for two-year-olds.  Crazy!

Though the thoroughbreds have been running two-year-old races for a few weeks already.
