I just heard the news that Ron Turcotte passed away today 🙁

Every time I watch a replay of Secretariat winning the Belmont Stakes, I always get goosebumps.

Sad, he had lots of health issues. Tough guy.

I see what you did there.

I believe it was Ron Turcotte who said that Secretariat would have been undefeated but for the mortal humans who handled him.  It wasn’t a dig on the people, himself included.  Rather, his total admiration for Big Red.

I like to go to the Red Mile from my home in Frankfort via the Old Frankfort Pike Scenic Byway.  A huge statue of Secretariat and Turcotte towers over all of us mortal humans as we drive by.
