The Lexington Buckets are Out!
Quote from FreedomHill on September 22, 2024, 9:25 PMThe long-awaited Lexington Buckets are out!! An hour ago they were all locked, and there were 100 shares available of each. Now? Not so much.
I have a question about the buckets as @amac 's video wasn't clear. At least to me.
Are all the buckets for yearlings? Or, were some going to be filled with other horses? Thanks in advance for your explanations. Much appreciated!!

Quote from MaywoodAl on September 22, 2024, 9:47 PMI had checked earlier and the prices were not as high, maybe 80K instead of 110 for the sex specific trotters. I guess a preliminary amount. I am going to pass on Lexington (unless I get really drunk and talk myself into it).
I want the filly trotters, but dang college loans. Plus job is cutting people, so I better play it safe. Hopefully I can pick up a scrap or two. Maybe people will start offering some of the current horses at reasonable prices and I'll pick up something there. But it is fun to have the yearlings.

This has been happening for the past week. I watch the private market like a hawk 🦅

Quote from SC Upstate on September 23, 2024, 6:18 AMQuickly learning (on the fly) how to manage MY stable within TheStable. I picked up a share of the one horse I liked after the "extra" shares were released from the Ohio buckets. Looking at Lexington, thinking of shares in the high end trotters and pacers. Budgeting in a year of monthly bills. comes out "cheaper" then a bucket of two, three or four horses. Two schools of thought on race ready horses or waiting till spring for shares to become available vs yearling sales. Buying from a sale could be an all or nothing scenario. I've been on both sides of that equation. Nothing like watching a baby from day one make it to the races. There's also nothing like watching the Amish load that baby on a truck six months later! My personal dilemma is I used to see those babies live two or three times a week. Now it'll be a video. Might sound crazy but I'm really wrestling with that.

Quote from Bgtolex25 on September 24, 2024, 6:08 AMI too wrestled with the yearling vs. racehorse issue and went for the latter, at least for this year. A lot of moving parts with TheStable. Glad that I got to meet several people this past week and gained more understanding.
I agree that the yearling season frenzy has softened the prices and competition for the racehorses.
Good luck to all.

Quote from SC Upstate on September 24, 2024, 6:49 AMThere's no right or wrong, defiantly a personal decision. I passively followed TheStable for a few years before becoming a daily viewer the past year. A few factors in my decision, 1 - I feel like TheStable has a decent percentage of getting two year olds to the races. I do think that's the industry and breed as a whole. 2 - It's a rental more than a long term commitment with race ready horses. I was involved with a guy that had a stable of about a dozen horses. Same dozen year after year. Race them thirty times, turn them out and repeat. I like the idea of getting what you can and turning them over, just not yet. 3 - I don't fish, golf, gamble, no motorcycles or boats, have to spend money on something!

Quote from GWChrome on September 25, 2024, 12:48 PMI too followed the stable passively for awhile before I jumped in. I had to decide whether I could accept Anthony's concept as a whole and not become frustrated with some parts of it. Like horse turnover. With the yearlings it was tough to see them go and not be given more opportunity. It became easier when you get more and more horses.
