The Red Mile

Page 1 of 11Next

Wendy and I made it out to opening card yesterday.  Fortunately, the thunderstorms just missed the area.  Decent crowd.  Kentucky Proud Series finals from the early Fair circuit.  I would post a picture, but

  1.  My IT person is scared of thunderstorms and has a 8 pm bedtime
  2. I only managed one picture anyway and not a horse in sight.
  3. I was mesmerized by the beauty and quiet nature of the famous red clay.
  4. Totally worn out by imparting all my vast wagering knowledge to my wife, and then she goes with “I like the grey horse.”

Sounds like you found your little piece of heaven on earth.

I 💖 the Red Mile.  We may go there the Sunday before the Jug.

If Zina makes the final I have a decision to make. The finals are Jug week. I've been to 47 Jugs. Spending a few days in Lexington wouldn't be terrible. Please make it hard on me Zina. 🙂

The finals will be on Sunday before the Jug.  My plan is to be up in Ohio for the yearling sale on Friday(and Thursday for the inspections).  Return to Ky on Saturday and go to the finals on Sunday.  Then off to Delaware on Monday.

Who knows, maybe we can work in a barbecue for the group on Saturday or Sunday evening down in Frankfort/Lexington

Then the Grand Circuit and Fasig Tipton sale comes back down to Lexington!  Magical time indeed.

The Commonwealth Finals are Monday (Zina's proposed division).

I was hoping to get to The Red Mile this year but that was contingent on Neuromancer being there, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Regardless I'm sure I'll be at Corbin again for one of the weeks of racing since my youngest son lives just east of there.

@maywoodal thanks for clarifying.  I didn’t think about all the levels.  We will see how it all goes and make a decision about leaving for Delaware at that time.

Let me know when you are firm with your plans.  I should be able to run over for a bit.

Steady Volo (win) and Hanger One (place) in the Wildcat Series at the Red Mile.  Nice that they have 4 levels, so one doesn’t have to throw in with the monsters before being ready to give the best effort.  Hopefully the trotting fillies are primed for tomorrow.
