Diamond Creek closing

It was just announced that Diamond Creek is closing. Sugar Valley Farms is also closing/ Earlier Southwind Farms announced they were closing. That is quite some major farms getting out of the business....

The Diamond Creek announcement does a poor job of explanation.  You have to listen to the “Creekside Chat” podcast to hear that they are consolidating to their Georgetown, KY operation.  The stallions affected by the PA sell off, Sweet Lou and Confederate, will be relocated to farms yet to be determined.  Same for Downbytheseaside, currently at Sugar Valley.  Last year,  Diamond Creek had already started a new partnership in Alliance Bloodstock to sell yearlings.  The consolidations for efficiencies and migrations to the hotter jurisdictions continue to roll along.

An update from the management team of Diamond Creek, as they work thru the process of relocating Tactical Approach, Confederate, and Sweet Lou from their recently sold PA farm.  Also, they need to move Downbytheseaside and Pebble Beach from the closing Sugar Valley in Ohio.

MY BETS:

Seaside and Pebble Beach stay in Ohio.

TA to Indiana.

Sweet Lou stays in PA.

Confederate to KY

Note that the specific farm isn’t as relevant as it once was.  Semen is collected and shipped to the location of the mares.  Some stallions are housed by private farms and not necessarily at farms with traditional operating models.

Are they one of the farms that makes drivers race under the farms colors? If so I'm kinda rooting against them. 🙂

Aren’t all the thoroughbred silks based off ownership and not the jockey?

But yes, Diamond Creek does have their own farm colors and employ them in the major stakes.  Lindy Farm and Courant are two others that come to mind.  Cracks me up looking at Yannick in what seems to be one size fits all Courant colors.  Looks like a 1950’s driver when fashion was an afterthought.

In Europe its common to have owners colours. In France its even mandatory.
